Safeguarding our Zoom Meetings

New Procedures to Help Secure our Public Programs

How We’ve Changed

Waiting Room

All participants will enter the waiting room first.  Once the host and speaker are ready to begin, everyone will be admitted into the meeting.

Muting

All participants’ microphones will be muted upon entry.  To participate in the Q&A and request “unmuting”:

  1. Turn on your camera
  2. Click Raise Hand (use Reactions button) or simply raise your hand

Handouts

The lecture handout will no longer be “posted for download” in the Chat window.  We will only be able to provide a link for you to click on.  Please see the email sent to all registrants with the same handout link.

t

Online Help Desk

The online Help Desk will now be held at the end of the scheduled program.

How You Can Help

Protect Our Zoom Links

We know how exciting it is to discover a Program that might help you break through a genealogy brick wall, and it’s natural to want to share it with friends. The safest way to do that is to have them register through Eventbrite just as you did.  Please do not share the Zoom meeting link.

This ensures that everyone who joins our meetings is genuinely interested in learning, not disrupting, and it helps us maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all.

Joining In

You’re welcome to participate at any time during our meetings — the Chat window is always open for your questions or comments.

At the end of the program, if there is time, we will hold a Question-and-Answer session with the Speaker.  To join in:

  • turn on your camera
  • click Raise Hand (use Reactions button) or simply raise your hand

Thanks for growing with us!
