We are taught in Genealogy 101 to create research plans as part of a genealogist’s toolbox. Research plans are a way to guide our research thoughtfully and methodologically to solve our genealogical questions. Most people consider that with books, websites, and paper research. Well, in the 21st Century, that now includes DNA testing. This presentation will demonstrate how to incorporate genetic genealogy results, testing strategies, analyses, and proof arguments into your research plans.
Shannon Combs-Bennett QG (qualified genealogist), MSc, FSAScot is an award-winning author who resides in Northern Virginia. From there, she writes and presents on various topics across the US and internationally, ranging from genetic genealogy to methodological techniques. She earned her Bachelor of Science in biology with an emphasis in genetics from Indiana University and her Master of Science in Genealogic, Heraldic, and Paleographic Studies from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Shannon is a doctoral candidate in History and Genealogical Studies at the University of Strathclyde, researching the correlations between genealogy and lineage societies in the United States.
